Mega travel management company CWT is working to book new content for large-scale distribution by launching a pilot program in August in which agents will book and service NDC-compliant content on Singapore Airlines and Air France-KLM through the Amadeus travel platform.
The pilot includes company-negotiated fares for customers as well as unique NDC-compatible content on these airlines. For Singapore, it will initially include special discount fares; for Air France-KLM, it will initially include continuous fare offers and bundled seat offers. Going forward, CWT expects paid seats and extra baggage capacity to be added to the choices for Singapore, while Air France-KLM will expand its program to sustainable aviation fuel options in the near future.
CWT plans to expand the pilot to other airlines throughout 2022, using both the Amadeus and Saber platforms. The company has been facilitating NDC transactions through its own multi-source platform since 2019 for early adopter customers. The pilot project is an extension of work the agency has done over a number of years to scale NDC reservations with global distribution system providers.
CWT’s vice president of product management, travel content and connectivity, Erik Magnuson, conceded in a press release that NDC “still has some way to go” before it can achieve widespread adoption, but said, “We are excited to be at the forefront of this transformation. Our customers are already beginning to reap some of the benefits, while keeping key priorities for their travel program intact.”
