Marriott International is launching a new brand of serviced apartments to take advantage of growing traveler demand to combine work and play in one trip, often referred to as “bleisure”.
The hospitality company is looking to open properties around the world under the new Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand, which will build on its long-standing Marriott Executive Apartments portfolio.
Stephanie Linnartz, President of Marriott International, said, “Today’s travelers planning vacations and extended business trips are looking for more choices when it comes to accommodations.
“The introduction of Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy responds to these trends while providing developers with a premium product backed by our trusted name and distribution platform.”
Marriott plans to introduce the new brand to the upscale and luxury segments of the market.
Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy will also differentiate itself from the company’s existing extended-stay brands, such as Residence Inn, by offering “distinctively designed products that reflect the local neighborhood for independent travelers seeking more space and comfort.” residential amenities”.
The new brand apartments will feature separate bedrooms and living rooms, as well as full kitchens as well as in-unit washing machines and dryers. But unlike Marriott’s other apartment-style brands, the properties won’t include hotel services such as food and beverage, meeting space and shopping.
Marriott said it would give interested developers the option to build new properties or convert existing buildings. No details were given on the first properties of Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy.
