travel club sets sail in January | New

COUNTY OF BREVARD — Do you dream of a weekend at sea and relaxing on a private island? Or maybe you’re looking for something a little longer like sailing a luxury cruise in Mexico?

The Helping Seniors Travel Club had so much fun on their first cruise in 2021 that they are leaving Port Canaveral again in 2023.

The cruise will depart Jan. 6-15 on MSC Meraviglia, and sailors can choose to sail the first two nights with the ship returning to port on Jan. 8, a seven-night cruise departing Jan. 8, or return-out-sailings. return for a 9-night cruise.

The Helping Seniors Travel cruise is open to everyone – you don’t have to be a senior or Brevard County resident to take advantage of the offers. In addition, the travel club does not charge any membership fees.

A portion of the booking will be donated to the non-profit organization which aims to connect seniors with resources tailored to their specific needs.

“We all had a great time and everyone wanted to know when we were going to do the next one,” said Kerry Fink, executive director of Helping Seniors of Brevard.

Mr. Fink went on the first cruise with his wife and noted how great it was to have the travel agents on board with them.

The cruise is booked through Merritt Island travel agents Chris Morse and Betty Powers, who are both certified for special needs travel.

One of the benefits of sailing with Helping Seniors is the opportunity to make new friends who live in Brevard.

“The idea behind this is that you make friends on the ship and then say, ‘Hey, when we get home, let’s have lunch on Wednesday,'” Mr Fink said.

The two-night cruise will sail to the Ocean Cay Marine Reserve and is available for $264 per person based on double occupancy. The price includes a stateroom with a balcony, all taxes and port charges, and gratuities.

The seven-night Bahamas and Mexico luxury cruise is available for $842 per person based on double occupancy and includes a balcony stateroom, all taxes and port fees, gratuities, beverage package, Wi-Fi package, a private cocktail, etc.

If you wish to sail all 9 nights, the back-to-back cruise is available for $1,106 per person based on double occupancy.

The week’s full itinerary includes stops in Nassau, Bahamas; Ocean Cay Marine Reserve; Costa Maya, Mexico and Cozumel, Mexico.

When booking, an initial deposit of $250 per person is required to reserve the space. Travelers sailing solo and wishing to have a cabin to themselves can benefit from a special offer.

The balcony stateroom upgrade is part of a limited time special offer.
